Compliance Notice for UL Norms
Some countries have specific requirements for how the user interface of a fire protection system appears and functions.
In the United States, this set of requirements is defined by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the UL 864 and UL 2572 specifications.

NOTES:
1) For examples of the possible distributed and non-distributed configurations, search for the "System Architectures" help pages of your fire system. See also Distributed Systems.
2) Refer to the System Dimensioning Guide to determine how many physical objects the system will support.
3) When connecting the Desigo CC PC in the UL 864 setup to non-UL 864 infrastructure (such as Building X services) on the Public Internet/Private Intranet, a UL 864 listed switch should be used to separate the UL 864 setup from the non-UL 864 infrastructure.
4) In UL 864 setups, the following units should be located in the same room with a distance between them LESS THAN 20 ft and wiring connections between them enclosed in conduit or equivalently protected from mechanical damage:
- Desigo CC computer and the connected Scalance XC206/X204 switch
- MOSA and the connected Ethernet switch
- MOSA and the connected FS20M/XLS panel
5) To connect Desigo CC to Public Internet, Desigo CC needs to be connected to a UL 864 switch in the same room within 20 ft in conduit, then this UL 864 switch needs to be further connected by Multi Mode or Single Mode fiber to a UL listed switch (UL 864 not required), and then this UL listed switch may connect to Public Internet.
6) The system is designed to operate at ambient temperatures between 32 and 120°F (0 and 49°C).
7) The system has been tested at a relative humidity of 85 ±5 percent and a temperature of 86 ±3°F (30 ±2°C).
8) For the UHW-CATA-01, UHW-CATB-01, UHW-CATC-01, UHW-CATD-01 computer models, all external ports are power limited except for the main AC power port, which is not power limited.
9) During installation, keep field wiring away from sharp projections, corners, and internal components.
10) Wiring methods used must comply with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, the Standard for Installation and Classification of Burglar and Holdup Alarm Systems, UL 681, and the Standard for Central-Station Alarm Services, UL 827, as applicable.
11) Desigo CC communicates with security devices over a dedicated UL864/ULC-S527 listed private network that is not shared with other network service providers.

Journaling Printout Settings
UL 864-compliant fire systems must provide a journaling line printer that meets the related performance requirements of printing 50 event-related registrations in 90 seconds.
You must modify your printer’s default settings and select a pre-defined UL journaling template to ensure the printer meets the UL 864 requirements.

The printer settings shown in the following specification sections refer to the line printer model EPSON LQ-2090 or LQ-2090II.
UL Journaling Template Specifications
The UL Templates are located at:
[installation drive:]\[installation folder]\[project]\profiles\JournalingUserTemplates.
You should use on of the UL templates along with the line printer settings to ensure the required performance (50 Alarm-related events printed in 90 seconds).
The UL Templates have a condensed layout which results in a faster printout.
They provide no page headers and footer, and include the following four data columns:
- Cause
- Device Text
- Transition Time
- Event Source
The following table provides the UL-compliant configuration specifications for journaling:
