NOTES:

1) For examples of the possible distributed and non-distributed configurations, search for the "System Architectures" help pages of your fire system. See also Distributed Systems.

2) Refer to the System Dimensioning Guide to determine how many physical objects the system will support.

3) When connecting the Desigo CC PC in the UL 864 setup to non-UL 864 infrastructure (such as Building X services) on the Public Internet/Private Intranet, a UL 864 listed switch should be used to separate the UL 864 setup from the non-UL 864 infrastructure.

4) In UL 864 setups, the following units should be located in the same room with a distance between them LESS THAN 18 m and wiring connections between them enclosed in metallic conduit:

5) To connect Desigo CC to Public Internet, Desigo CC needs to be connected to a UL 864 switch in the same room within 18 m in conduit, then this UL 864 switch needs to be further connected by Multi Mode or Single Mode fiber to a ULC listed switch (UL 864 not required), and then this ULC listed switch may connect to Public Internet.

Journaling Printout Settings

UL 864-compliant fire systems must provide a journaling line printer that meets the related performance requirements of printing 50 event-related registrations in 90 seconds.

You must modify your printer’s default settings and select a pre-defined UL journaling template to ensure the printer meets the UL 864 requirements.

info

The printer settings shown in the following specification sections refer to the line printer model EPSON LQ-2090 or LQ-2090II.

UL Journaling Template Specifications

The UL Templates are located at:
[installation drive:]\[installation folder]\[project]\profiles\JournalingUserTemplates.

You should use on of the UL templates along with the line printer settings to ensure the required performance (50 Alarm-related events printed in 90 seconds).
The UL Templates have a condensed layout which results in a faster printout.
They provide no page headers and footer, and include the following four data columns:

The following table provides the UL-compliant configuration specifications for journaling:

NFPA 72
Local - Campus

Yes

The Desigo CC management station is in monitoring mode only. The remote fire panel nodes are configured as stand-alone 72 Local - Campus panels. Local control is through local keyboard and display modules (MKB/PMI).
The Desigo CC management station displays the current values of data points; however, it cannot directly acknowledge, silence, or reset a remote node.

- Control commands disabled in the Security section for the fire panels (define a scope for the entire XNET and set the Read-only property for User access to it).

NFPA 72
Local - Highrise

Yes

The Desigo CC management station is the primary control point for the XNET (a fire panel node or a collection of fire panel nodes). It is capable of block acknowledge, query, and control of the system. The remote fire panel nodes are configured as 72 Local - Highrise units and may contain their own annunciators (MKB/PMI). No local control is possible at a remote keyboard (MKB/PMI) unless its node is out of communication with the Desigo CC management station.

- Control commands enabled (default) in the Security section for the fire panels.

- XNET Block commands (Silence/Unsilence, Ack, Reset) enabled. See Configuring the XNET Network.

NFPA 72
Proprietary

Yes

The Desigo CC management station is the primary control point for the XNET (a fire panel node or a collection of fire panel nodes). It is capable of top event acknowledge, query, and control of the system. The remote fire panel nodes are configured as 72 Proprietary units and may contain their own annunciators (MKB/PMI). Control is possible from a remote location using a keyboard (MKB/PMI) that is behind a locked door.

- Control commands enabled (default) in the Security section for the fire panels.

- XNET Block commands (Silence/Unsilence, Ack, Reset) disabled. See Configuring the XNET Network.

The user cannot send ACK, Silence/Unsilence, and Reset commands by selecting multiple events in Event List.
